Obituary of Urcenia Robles

Rosary for Urcenia (Lucenia) Olivas Robles, of Abernathy, TX, were recited at 7:00 pm Sunday, December 12, 2004, in St. Isidore Catholic Church with Rev. Rene Perez, pastor officiating. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, December 13, 2004, in the same church with the same officiant. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Robles was born in New Mexico February 2, 1917 and was raised near Fort Sumner. In 1924 she came to Texas with her family to pick cotton from the West Texas fields. Her family continued migrating to Texas until they settled in Abernathy in 1928. January 11, 1937 she married Carlos V. Robles and they had two children, Cecil and Gloria. She had strong faith in our Lord which guided her as a founding member of St. Isidore Catholic Church of Abernathy in 1967. Her love, pride, courage, strength, passion, hope and faith helped her live a complete life. On December 10, 2004 she left our world to fulfill the never ending promise. Urcenia was preceded in death by her husband in 1990 and daughter in 1999. She is survived by a son, Cecil Robles of Denver City, TX, 2 sisters, Tommie Gerhardt of Lubbock, TX and Pauline Cantu of Abernathy, TX, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
