Funeral services for Hazel (Hughes) Roberts, 94, of Lubbock, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Sunday, January 20, 2008, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike O'Donnell officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. She was born May 2, 1912 in Fannin County, TX. She married john E. "Dick" Hughes in 1931 in Frederick, OK. She lived in Abernathy from 1931 until 1966 when she moved to Lubbock. She was a dietician at Abernathy ISD and Texas Tech University. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lubbock, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Orville Glosson. She is survived by 2 sons, Bill Hughes and his wife Silverene of Eagle Nest, NM and Wendell Hughes and his wife Ernestine of New Deal, TX, a daughter, LaNelda Bridges and her husband Dene of Lubbock, TX. She was survived by 2 brothers, Dale Glosson of Wichita Falls, TX and Paul Glosson of Quanah, TX, 2 sisters, Cleo Garmon of Quanah, TX and Lucile Ritchey of Ft. Worth, TX, 12 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 21 great great grandchildren. Abell Funeral Home
