Obituary of Dolores Barton

Funeral services for Dolores Virginia Barton, 83, of Katy, TX, were held at 1:00 pm Monday, October 17, 2011, in the Grace Fellowship United Methodist Church in Katy, TX under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home of Katy. The family received friends at a reception following the service at the church. The family received friends at Abell Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, October 18, 2011 from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm. Graveside services were held at 10:00 am Wednesday, October 19, 2011, in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Barton died Tuesday morning, October 11, 2011 in Katy, TX. She was born December 3, 1927 in Elkhart, TX to Jerome Anderson Hodges and Esther Weisinger Hodges. She married Jack "Jackie" Pinson Barton on September 5, 1947 in Crosbyton, TX, and he preceded her in death on September 2, 2010. They moved to Katy, TX 5 years ago and she was a member of Grace Fellowship United Methodist Church where she was a Stephen minister. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Republic Texas, D.A.R. and the community Bible Study. She is survived by her 4 children, Terry & Marilyn Barton of Marietta, GA, Rev. Dr. Steven & Cathy Barton of Lexington, KY, Gregg and Becky Barton of Clear Lake City, TX and Barbara & David Tucker of Katy, TX. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren, Brett and wife Marilynn, Bryan, Emily and Rachel Barton, Kyle, Jana and Andrew Tucker, Melissa Tucker O'Rear and husband Jason, Mindy Barton Fitzpatrick and her husband Jim, 3 Great Grandchildren, Keira Fitzpatrick, Samantha Barton and Henry Barton and 1 brother, Arnold Hodges and wife Dorothy of Crosbyton, TX. The family suggests memorials be made to the Care Minister at Grace Fellowship United Methodist Church, 2655 S. Mason Rd., Katy, TX 77450. Abell Funeral Home
