Services for Margaret Ruth Richardson, 82, of Hale Center, Tx., were held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 14, 2002, in the Halfway First Baptist Church with Rev. Gordon Benson officiating. Burial followed services in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center, Tx. Mrs. Richardson died Sunday, February 10, 2002 in Lubbock, Tx. She was born on May 1, 1919 in Lamesa, Tx. She married S. C. Richardson on October 26, 1940 in Big Springs, Tx. She worked as a riveter on military aircraft during WWII in San Diego, Ca. and in Lubbock. She moved to Akin, Texas in 1946 from California and then to Hale Center in 1947. She was employed at the Hi-Plains Hospital in Hale Center and earned her LVN certification in 1968. She worked for Dr. Nguyen The and later became librarian at the Hale Center Library. After retiring she became a volunteer for hospice. She was a member of the Halfway First Baptist Church and was a charter member of the Mayfield Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Danny Harold Richardson in 1950. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Edna Merriman and Dorothy Jean Shackelford and 2 brothers, Earl Shackelford and Melvin Shackelford. Survivors; Husband, S. C. Richardson of Lubbock, Tx. 1 Son, Sammy Joe Richardson of Lubbock, Tx. 1 Daughter, Kathy Ann Richardson of Center Point, Tx. 1 Brother, Joe Shackelford of Rancho Cordova, Ca. 2 Sisters, Frances Page of Palm Springs, Ca., and Elsie Kilgore of Washington.
