Frank Bartlett

Frank Leon Bartlett was born January 1, 1923 at Hollis, OK, to Lela and Hiram Bartlett. He attended public school at Halsmith, La Casa, and graduated Valedictorian at Westview. Frank was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served from 1943-1945, mainly in Europe, earning 5 battle stars. In 1948 he graduated from Oklahoma A & M in Stillwater, OK. While earning a Master's degree at Texas Tech in 1963, he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. Frank retired in 1984 after 34 years of service in the field of education. He taught school at Cyril, OK, Stratford, and Abernathy, TX. For 14 of those years he enjoyed being a principal at the junior high school in Abernathy, TX. He married Georgia Holleman on May 31, 1946, in Hobart, OK. He is survived by his wife, his son Frank Bartlett, Jr and Kay of Greenwood, TX; and daughter Virginia and Eddie Weaver of Breckenridge, TX; grandchildren Matt and Brittany Weaver of Sweetwater, TX; Heidi and Scott Schlemmer of Anoka, MN; Jace and Andromache Weaver of Corpus Christi, TX; Andrew Bartlett; Allyson and Rudy Munoz, all of Midland, TX and Josh Bartlett of Lubbock, TX. Great grandchildren are Mabry and Marly Weaver and Cody Christopher, and Ansley Kate Munoz. Also Kenneth Bartlett of Hollis, OK, Lindy Bartlett of Eufala, OK and Bob Bartlett of Altus, Ok. and Lawanda Thompson of Heavner, OK, all siblings of Frank. He enjoyed spending the summer months at Cloudcroft, NM and the winter months in the Hill Country, near London, TX. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce and many professional organizations. He was also the first president of Abernathy Classroom Teachers' Association. Memorial services were held at 2:00 Thursday, March 27, 2008, in the First Baptist Church in Abernathy with John Lowrie officiating. Abell Funeral Home
