Vernon Pettit

Graveside services for Vernon "Pig" Pettit, 81, of Gainesville, TX will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, December 27, 2002, in the Abernathy Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Pettit died Monday, December 23, 2002 in Gainseville. He was born on February 1, 1921 in Abernathy. He married Eloise Garrett on April 8, 1944 in Abernathy, TX. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. He was involved in farming in Abernathy for 23 years before moving to Paris, TX, in 1969, where he was a farm implement dealer. He retired in 1997 and moved to Gainesville, TX. Survivors; wife, Eloise Pettit of Gainesville, TX. 1 son, Michael Pettit of Ardmore, OK, 2 daughters, Pat Northcutt and Cindi Ward both of Gainesville, TX. 1 sister, Tinie Williamson of Graham, TX. 9 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
