Salina Pearce Services for Salina Pearce, 87, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:00 am Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. John Lowrie officiating. Burial followed in the Pearce Chapel Strip Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Pearce died Monday, March 4, 2002, in Lubbock, TX. She was born May 26, 1914 in Hale Center, TX. She was a lifelong Hale County resident and married Chester Pearce on January 26, 1939 in Lubbock, TX. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1992. She was active in the Abernathy PTA, and as a Girl Scout Leader. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Lou Pearce in 1976. She is survived by a daughter, Janie Sue Seymour and her husband, Charles, of Lubbock, TX. 2 grandchildren, 2 brothers, George Smith of Amarillo, TX, and Bill Smith of Olton, TX, and a sister, Vernice Wheeler of Odessa, TX. The family suggests memorials be sent to the First Baptist Church building fund, 411 - 7th Street, Abernathy, TX 79311 or to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch.
