Services for Bonnie Overstreet, 96, of Petersburg, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 7, 2009, in the Petersburg First Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Foote, pastor of Colonial Baptist Church, Plainview, and Rev. Jesse Nave, Petersburg, officiating. The family gathered at Abell Funeral Home to host friends, Friday evening, from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Burial followed services in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Overstreet died in Plainview, Thursday, February 5, 2009. She was born October 28, 1912 in Gorman, TX. She married Sherman (L. S.) Overstreet on December 20, 1930 in Eastland, TX, he preceded her in death on May 27, 1997. She moved to the Petersburg area from Gorman in 1950 and in 1967 moved into town where she owned and operated Bonnie's Shop from 1968 until 1974. She was a member of the Petersburg First Baptist Church, and formerly a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Overstreet on January 17, 1988, 4 grandchildren, a great granddaughter, 1 brother and 1 sister. She is survived by her 2 sons, Leslie Overstreet and his wife Shirley of Petersburg, TX and Retired Sgt. Major Gene Overstreet and his wife Jeanne of Seguin, T X, 2 sisters, Elizabeth Bingham of Gorman, TX and Fay Perrin of Sundown, TX, 1 sister-in-law, Lorene McCulley of Eastland, TX, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be sent to the First Baptist Church, Petersburg, TX, the Petersburg Public Library or the Area Community Hospice, 3109 Olton Rd., Ste C, Plainview, TX 79072.
