Obituary of Harold McCune

Memorial services for Harold Drew McCune, 89, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 6, 2010, in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Brownlow, pastor, officiating. A reception for family and friends followed the memorial service in the fellowship hall of the Church. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. McCune died at his home, Sunday, January 3, 2010. He was born September 4, 1920 in Tulia, TX and married Laura Ann Lutrick on May 25, 1949 in Abernathy. He was a longtime Abernathy resident, graduating from Abernathy High School. He served in the United Stated 8th Air Force as a Crew member of B17 Bomber in England, flying on 25 missions. He also was a member of the American Legion and VFW, the Abernathy Country Club and the First United Methodist Church in Abernathy. In 1987 he retired from SPS after 37 years of service. Survivors are his wife, Ann McCune of Abernathy, TX 3 children, Dreuann Decker and her husband Mark of Lubbock, TX, Wayne McCune and his wife Linda of San Angelo, TX and Lee McCune and his wife Jan of Lubbock, TX, 4 grandchildren,Chad Shadden and his wife Mindy of Abernathy, TX, Brad Shadden and wife McKinsey of Lubbock, TX, Catlin McCune and Easton McCune both of Lubbock, TX and 4 great grandchildren, Cheyann & Scarlett Shadden both of Abernathy, TX and Brody and Mavrick Shadden both of Lubbock, TX. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Ray.
