Funeral services for Emma Frances McCluskey, 81, of Abernathy, TX were held at 10:00 am Thursday, June 30, 2005, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. John Lowrie, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Center Plains Cemetery, Cotton Center, TX, under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. McCluskey died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, in Lubbock, TX. She was born January 15, 1924 in Cotton Center, TX. She graduated Cotton Center High School in 1941, Wayland Baptist Junior College in 1943 and West Texas State College in Canyon, TX in 1945 with a degree in home economics. She taught school for 27 years, teaching in Monahans, Forsan, Cotton Center and Friona, TX. She and C. H. McCluskey were married April 6, 1947 and to that union were blessed 2 daughters, Emma Jo Cook, who preceded her Mother in death in March of 2000, and Charlotte McCluskey McCright. Mrs. McCluskey is survived by her husband, C. H. McCluskey of Abernathy, TX, a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Jim McCright, 3 grandchildren, Jamie and her husband Jiim Bob Mote of Happy, TX, Kevin and his wife Jaime McCright of Stamford, TX and Bobby Joe Beach of Tahoka, TX, 2 brothers, Jack and wife Davene Sageser of Cotton Center, TX, and Max and wife Joan Sageser of Earth, TX, a sister, Martha Lou Burnett of Cotton Center, TX.
