Services for Syble Marquis, 93, of Abernathy, TX were held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 29, 2002, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. S. W. Keaton officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Marquis died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, in Lubbock, TX. She was born on February 28, 1909 in McKinney, TX. She moved to Hale County in 1923, at the age of 14, from McKinney, TX. She married Raymond Marquis on August 11, 1929 in Kress, TX. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Abernathy, TX, and was a member of the quilting club. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ramona Foster on October 1, 1998, and a granddaughter, Rena Foster in 1977. She is survived by; husband, Raymond, Marquis of Lubbock, TX, 3 grandchildren, Bill Foster and David Foster both of Lubbock, TX, and Debbie Medley of Ft.
