Rosary for Louis Lucero, 78, of Hale Center, TX, were recited at 7:00 pm Sunday evening, December 1, 2002 and again at 7:00 pm Monday evening, December 2, 2002, in St. Theresa's Catholic Church with Rev. Reymundo Manriquez, pastor, officiating. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at 2:00 pm in the same church with the same officiant. Burial followed in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center, TX. Mr. Lucero died at his home, Friday, November 29, 2002. He was born on May 18, 1924 in Ft. Sumner, N.M. and he moved to Hale Center in 1926 with his family. He married Josefina Flores on November 23, 1963 in Hale Center, TX. He served in the United States Navy, with Honors, during WWII. He was stationed on the USS Cleveland. He was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church and the VFW. He was a carpenter. Survivors; wife, Josefina Lucero of Hale Center, TX. 3 sons, Mark Lucero of Abernathy, TX, George Lucero of Lubbock, TX and Jodie Lucero of Odessa, TX. 4 brothers, William Lucero of Hale Center, TX, Jose Lucero of Lubbock, TX, Ben Lucero of El Paso, TX and Max Lucero of Tucson, AZ. 1 sister, Teresa Martinez of San Antonio, TX. 7 grandchildren The family suggests memorials be sent to Cancer Research.
