Julia Mae Fitch Laney Services for Julia Mae Fitch Laney, 93, of Hale Center, were held at 10 am Saturday, December 1, 2001, in the First United Methodist Church with Berliin Raymond and Kevin Naillieux, both of Dalhart, officiating. Burial followed in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center, Tx. Mrs. Laney died at her daughter's home in Hale Center, Texas, on Thursday, November 28, 2001. She was born on August 6, 1908 in Coolidge, Tx. She married Carl Laney in June of 1925 in Olton, Tx. He preceded her in death in 1993. They were pioneer farmers Northwest of Hale Center. Survivors; 1 daughter, Melva Laney of Hale Center, Tx., 1 granddaughter, Anita Burgess and her husband Randy Pyles of Lubbock, Tx. 2 half-sisters, Hulda Guyton of El Paso, Tx., and Olive Hammer of Reno, Nev. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Laney; a daughter, Joan Rogers; brother, Everett Fitch; sister, Della Fitch Stephens and a grandson, Barry Burgess.
