Services for Gladys Rieff Hudgins, 87, of Hale Center, TX, were held 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Carrol Green and Rev. Gene Meacham officiating. Burial was held in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center, TX. Mrs. Hudgins died February 5, 2005 at her residence. She was born August 19, 1917 in West Fork, Arkansas. She married Earl Brooks Hudgins on January 22, 1946 in Lubbock, TX. He preceded her in death February 22, 1963. They moved to Hale Center in 1946 as newly weds. She was involved in RSVP ( Retired Seniors Volunteer Program) at the Hale County Farm and Ranch Museum and the Hale Center Senior Citizens Association. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she served as nursery director and later taught the 5year old class for over 40 years. She was employed at the Hale Center School Library and at the Hale Center Public Library. She was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Allen in 1993. She is survived by a son, Earl and his wife Sue Hudgins of Wolfforth,TX, 2 daughters: Barbara and her husband Ron Warren of Plainview, TX, Janice and her husband Gary Abercrombie of Plainview, TX 2 brothers: Henry Rieff of Cotton Center, TX and Glen Rieff of Plainview, TX, 5 Sisters: Naomi Weathers of Plainview, TX, Opal Barnes of Amarillo, TX, Edith Sims of Plainview, TX, Mildred Hammitt of Hale Center, TX, Ruby Teeter of Little Rock, Ark, 6 grandchildren, Amanda Hudgins, Wesley Warren, Doug Warren, Cody Abercrombie, Lauren Abercrombie and Todd Abercrombie. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to First Baptist Church or Hale Center Senior Citizens. Abell Funeral Home
