Obituary of Gerald Amerson

Graveside services for Gerald Keith Amerson, 64, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 22, 2012, in the City of Lubbock Cemetery. The family received friends at Abell Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Amerson died at his residence outside Abernathy due to complications of a lengthy illness on Saturday, May 19, 2012. He was born August 19, 1947, in Lubbock, TX to Cecil and Imagene Amerson. He lived and farmed in the Abernathy area most of his life and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Abernathy. He received the Abernathy Chamber of Commerce special award for auctioneering for community service in May of 1989. He was a member of the Abernathy Masonic Lodge # 1142, AF & AM and served as Worshipful Master from 2002-2004. He was also associated with the Abernathy Oddfellows Lodge and was a member of the Abernathy Riding Club. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Barbara, a daughter, Elizabeth and granddaughter Aislinn, all of Abernathy, TX, a son, K. C. Amerson and wife Sarah of Levelland, TX, and many cousins, extended family and friends. The family suggests memorials be sent to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association or the Abernathy Ex-Students Association. Abell Funeral Home
