Memorial services for Arlene (Fair) Harguess, 68, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 11:00 am Monday, April 27, 2009, in the Abernathy Church of Christ with Steve Gauntt, minister, officiating. Family graveside services were held in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
The Harguess family received friends Sunday, April 26, 2009, from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Abell Funeral Home, 411 16th Street, Abernathy.
Mrs. Harguess died Friday afternoon, April 24, 2009, in Lubbock, TX.
She was born on May 3, 1940 in Littlefield, TX, to Otto and Faye Fair. She grew up in Littlefield and attended High School there, she then attended Isabell Powell Beauty School in Lubbock, TX.
She married James Gaylon Harguess on April 29, 1960 in Littlefield. They lived in the surrounding area and began their family. In 1967 they moved to Willcox, AZ to begin a new endeavor in farming. Arlene worked along side James in their operation for nearly 40 years. She made her home and family a priority, along with the most bountiful garden each year. After her children were grown, her time was filled with new ventures, her favorite being Joys Dress Shop.
In 2006 they returned to their homeland of Texas to retire. They immediately were welcomed home by their new church family and her favorite past time came to be spending time with the DQ Bunch. God blessed her life with so many friends along the way.
She is survived by her husband, James Harguess of Abernathy, TX, a son, Darrell Harguess of Willcox, AZ, a daughter, Kimberly Lutrick and husband Scott, of Abernathy, TX, 3 sisters, Billie Cox and her husband Jerry, Dorothy Moore and her husband Ted and Shirley Harguess all of Brownfield, TX and a Cousin she considered a "Sister At Heart", Florence Carlisle and her husband Curtis of Plainview, TX. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, Landon and Alita Lutrick, Daniel and Deanna Guidroz, Lyssa Lutrick, Derrick Harguess and Key Lutrick, and 1 great grandson, Aron Guidroz
