Please share a memory of Edith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Services for Edith Gregg were held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 30, 2004, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. John Lowrie and Rev. Jimmy Nunn officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Edith Kate Prescott Gregg was born March 17, 1909 in Sweetwater, TX to Ransom B. Prescott and Hatte Lucille Foyst-Prescott. She was the oldest of 4 sisters, Toy, Tiny and Mickey. She married H. P. (Pete) Gregg in Fredrick, OK, August 5, 1928. Edith and Pete Gregg had one son, Billie Frank Gregg. The Gregg's moved from Lubbock to Abernathy in January of 1952, where they farmed until they retired and moved from the country into town. Mrs. Gregg was a member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church for over 50 years and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed canning, baking and sewing. Her door was always open to family and friends. When she was in her 80's she took up painting and painted many beautiful landscapes and florals over the next few years. She enjoyed traveling, not by plane or bus, but by car so she and Mr. Gregg could enjoy the countryside. She often visited friends and family throughout the southern states, California, Oregon and Washington. Mrs. Gregg is preceded in death by her husband, Pete, her son, Billie and her sisters. She leaves behind a daughter-in-law, Sharon Gregg of Abernathy, TX, six grandchildren, Francie Gregg of Laguna Beach, CA, Robert Gregg of Lake Stevens, WA, Tammie Clifford of Arlington, WA, Stephen Gregg of Bull Head City, AZ, Kay'd Saddington of Medford, OR and Kristen Mobley of Lakeview, OR. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, Jeramy, Justin, Brittany, Christopher, Tia, Rick Chantell, Dakota and Jeremiah, and one great great grandson, Liam Frank Gregg, as well as a host of beloved nieces and nephews, who have lovingly cared for her over the years. (I think sometimes, she thought of us all as her children in some way.) Abell Funeral Home
