Obituary of Rachel Alvarado

Rachel G. Alvarado, 72, of Anton, TX, passed away, Thursday, April 1, 2010. Funeral services were held at 11:00 am Tuesday, April 6, 2010 in the First Baptist Church, Abernathy with Pastor Paul Alvarado officiating. Burial followed in the Anton Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Visitation was held at Abell Funeral Home, Monday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Rachel was born February 27, 1938 to the late Mr. & Mrs Encarnacion Gutierrez, Sr. in Seguin, TX. She married Ernesto M. Alvarado on December 22, 1957 in Post, TX. She worked many years for Mr. & Mrs. John E. Birdwell in the Birdwell home. From August 1995 to May of 2000, she was employed by the Anton ISD. Survivors include her husband, Ernesto Alvarado of Anton, TX, 5 sons and 4 daughters-in-law, Ernest Alvarado, Jr, of Lubbock, TX, Raul and Rosa Alvarado of Monahans, TX, Ricky and Beverly Alvarado of Lubbock, TX, Danny and Cecilia Alvarado of Abernathy, TX and Rene and Christy Alvarado of San Francisco, CA, two brothers, Encarnacion (E. L. Chon) Gutierrez of Dumas, TX and Felipe Gutierrez of Seminole, TX, 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. One sister, Antonia Camacho and one brother Juan Gutierrez, preceded her in death.
