George Garner

Memorial services for George W. Garner, 81, of Lubbock, TX, were held at 4:00 pm Monday, June 3, 2002, in the Northside Church of Christ in Lubbock, with David Luke and James Whitehead officiating. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. His body was donated to the Texas Tech Health Science Center. He died Saturday, June 1, 2002, in Lubbock. Mr. Garner was born on February 7, 1921 in Plainview, TX. He married Gerry "Geraldine" White on November 3, 1947 in Lubbock. He served in the United States Navy during WWII with the Seabee's as a ship cook. He worked as a dry cleaner in the Lubbock area until his retirement. He and his wife were charter members of Northside Church of Christ in Lubbock where he had led singing for services and was a Sunday School Teacher. Survivors; wife, Gerry Garner of Lubbock, TX 1 daughter, Sandra Kay Shropshire and her husband Charles of New Deal, TX 2 granddaughters, Tawnya May and her husband Ross of Abernathy, TX and Tiffany Villegas and her husband Chris of New Deal, TX. 3 great granddaughters, Kay'D and Allison Villegas both of New Deal, TX, and Kelbi May of Abernathy, TX. 1 brother, Bill Garner of Lubbock, TX.
