Connie Davis

Memorial services for Connie Davis, 81, of Shallowater, TX, were held at 3:00 pm Monday, April 5, 2004, in the Shallowater First Baptist Church with Rev. Mitch Wilson, pastor, officiating. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Davis died Saturday, April 3, 2004, in Lubbock, TX. He was born in Elgin, OK, February 21, 1923 to John Henry and Tennie Davis, the sixth of nine children. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII and on Christmas morning, 1948 he married Dimple Ford. During their 55 years together, they had five children, Cecilia Adams, Pat Underwood and Butch Davis all of Lubbock, TX, Theresa Howell of Pensacola, FL and Mark Davis of Mustang, OK. They also had 14 grandchildren, including one that Connie is now holding that he didn't get to hold while he was on earth. There are 2 great granddaughters and a great grandson that will be born in July. He also left behind 3 sisters, Lennie Smallin of Aurora, CO, Johnsey Porter and Vida Nabors both of Abernathy, TX and a brother, Arbra Davis of Lubbock, TX. Mr. Davis owned and operated A-1 Tractor Service in Shallowater, TX and was a member of the Shallowater First Baptist Church. The family suggests memorials be sent to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch.
