Services for Rev. Frank Willis Hodnett, 82, of Lubbock, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 3, 2025 at LifePoint Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Harbison, pastor, officiating. The family will gather at LifePoint Baptist Church to receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time Monday. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
Rev. Hodnett died Friday, January 31, 2025, in Lubbock.
He was born May 19, 1942 in Carlsbad, NM to Ewell Willis and Francis (Willis) Hodnett. He was raised in Carlsbad, NM and graduated Carlsbad High School in 1961. Frank attended Wayland Baptist College and graduated December of 1965 with his Bachelors in Education. Frank taught 5th & 6th grades in Carlsbad prior to attending Southwestern Seminary, graduating December of 1969. Rev. Hodnett pastored First Baptist Church, Westbrook, TX then returned to Otis, NM where he began Bi-vocational ministry. He then began working at Cavern Supply at Carlsbad Caverns and ministered at Garden Street Baptist Church in Carlsbad for 31 yrs. Following retirement from the Caverns they moved to Timberon, NM where he pastored Timberon Baptist Chapel for 5 years before moving to Lubbock in 2014. He was a collector of all things. Frank loved anything American Indian and spending time with his family and dogs, 2 black labs. He always missed his Ministry years. Frank fought many health battles and is now healed and with his Savior.
Rev. Hodnett is survived by his wife of 62 years, Judy Hodnett of Lubbock, 4 children; Dr. Frank Hodnett and wife Dalene of Casper, WY, Dr. John Hodnett and wife Carrie and Kristy Astwood and husband John all of Lubbock and Tim Hodnett and wife Samantha of Somerville, TX, 13 grandchildren, Wil Hodnett, Emily Hodnett, Anne Hodnett, Grady Hodnett, Emilee Hodnett, Cayden Hodnett, McKinlee Hodnett, Chris Astwood and wife Kaylee, Colton Astwood and wife Addie, Conner Astwood and wife Ashton, Nicole Baier, Janae Thompson and Amethyst Baier, 4 great grandsons and a sister, Ruth Ann Mewborn of Golden, CO.
