Obituary of Scott Alan Snodgrass

Memorial services for Scott Snodgrass, 68 of Lubbock, TX, will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, May 24, 2024, at the First Baptist Church Abernathy, TX with Rev. Phillip Golden officiating. Cremation and services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Scott died Tuesday, May 21, 2024 in Lubbock, TX. Scott was born April 19, 1956 in Lubbock, to Y. F. and Mary Jo (Smith) Snodgrass. He was raised in Abernathy and graduated in 1974 from Abernathy High School. He attended South Plains College, later transferring to Wayland Baptist University, where he graduated in 1979. Scott married Cindy Palmer, June 12, 1981 in Plainview, TX. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Odessa, TX where Scott began a career in the oil industry. In 2000, they returned to Abernathy where Scott began working on the family farm. He was ordained as a Deacon at Abernathy First Baptist Church in 2002. Throughout his life, he taught youth Sunday School classes and sponsored Senior Adult Programs in both Abernathy and Fredericksburg, TX. In 2004 they moved to the HiIl Country of Texas and Scott began working for USDA Farm Service Agency. They moved to Lubbock in 2019 and he continued his employment with FSA in Brownfield until his retirement on April 19, 2024. He is survived by his wife Cindy Snodgrass of Lubbock, 3 brothers Don Snodgrass of Abernathy, Kent Snodgrass and wife Liz of Ft. Worth, TX, Kirk Snodgrass of Lubbock, and nieces and nephews Craig and wife Amanda, Clark, Beth, Clayton and wife Alex, Nathan and wife Kelly, Taylor and wife Isela, Devin and Madison, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jim and Sherry Palmer of Odessa.
