Obituary of Velda Darlene Blevins

Graveside services for Velda Darlene Blevins, 64 of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday April 13, 2023 in the Abernathy Cemetery with Kenny Attebury officiating. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Velda died Sunday April 9, 2023 in Lubbock, TX. She was born February 1, 1959 in Plainview, TX to Roy Blevins and Ernestine Neis. She graduated from Abernathy High School in 1977, and later graduated from the Hale Center Nursing School in 1980. Velda worked for Pinkerton Security and as an LVN for 14 years, where the majority of those years were at Methodist Hospital. She also worked at the Hale Center Nursing Home and the McKenna Hospital in New Braunfels, TX. Velda loved all animals. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Darrell Blevins and Dwayne Blevins. Velda is survived by her friend and love of her life Sharon Parrish, and friends since high school, who she claimed as brother and sister, Kenny and Phyllis Attebury of Abernathy.
