Obituary of Concepcion "Connie" Salazar Ureste

Rosary for Concepcion "Connie" Salazar Ureste, 75, of Cotton Center, TX, will be recited 7:00 pm Sunday, February 12, 2023, in St. Isidore Catholic Church with Rev. Brian Wood, pastor, officiating. Memories will be shared at 2:00 pm with the funeral Mass being celebrated at 3:00 pm Monday, February 13, 2023, in the same church with the same officiant. Viewing will be held at Abell Funeral Home, from 3:00pm until 6:00 pm Sunday, February 12, 2023, at Abell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Concepcion "Connie" Salazar Ureste passed away peacefully at her home Friday February 10, 2023. Connie was born March 14, 1947 to Hilario and Lucia (Gonzalez) Salazar in Brownsville, TX. She lived in Cotton Center 44 years, working at Cotton Center ISD in the cafeteria and ultimately as the school's custodian. Also, during this time she was employed at the First Baptist Church childcare center on the weekends and provided janitorial services as needed for about 15 years. She loved being with the kids at the school and touched many lives through her work. Connie was a giver, helping anyone that asked. She raised her children as a single loving Mother. Her family was her world and she was so happy to be a great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her son Javier Ureste. Connie is survived by children Judy Salazar of Lubbock, Antonio Ureste, Jr. and wife Melissa of Abernathy, Lucinda Perez of Meriden, WY, Octavio Ureste and wife Maria of Stanton, TX, 12 grandchildren Marcela Ruiz, Ryan Salazar, Daniel Rivera, Joshua Ureste, Samantha Ureste, Abigail Ureste, Antonio Ureste III, Maribel Ureste, Constance Perez, Austin Perez, Octavio Noe Ureste, Jr., Kassi Ureste, great grandchild Gaia Garcia, and siblings Natividad, Eusebia, Victor, Lucia, Guadalupe, Juan, Marlena, Pedro.
