Tany Brown

November 30, 1937 — December 20, 2021

Tany is dancing in Hallelujah Square today! She was sorry to leave her beloved husband, cherished daughter, adored granddaughter, much-loved great-grandchildren, family and friends but is happy to be with her Savior. She walked into the arms of her Savior at 12:50am on December 20, 2021. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 2:00pm in the Hale Center First Baptist Church with Rev. Kris Knippa officiating. Services are under the combined direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy and Ramage Funeral Directors of Hale Center. The family will gather to receive friends at Ramage Funeral Directors in Hale Center from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Tuesday, December 21, 2021. She was born the only daughter of Joseph Clifton (Bud) and Ova Audrey (Simmons) Talbot in Altus, OK on August 14, 1938 Tany's legal name, which only her closest friends knew, was Lena Frances (named after her grandmothers). A cousin nicknamed her and it became her "name". Tany accepted Jesus as as her Savior when she was nine years old at Prairie Hill Baptist Church in Oklahoma, served Him throughout her life, and was a long time active member of First Baptist Church in Hale Center. She graduated as valedictorian from Olustee, OK High School. There never was a doubt she would go to college because her Daddy was a strong believer in education, and convinced her, she could be anything she wanted to be, if she was willing to work hard enough. Tany married the love of her life, Bobby Wayne Brown on December 21, 1958, and they shared a happy, busy life. Together they were pharmacists for 120 years. She was one of two women who graduated in 1960 with a B.S. in Pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University School of Pharmacy in Weatherford, OK. She loved her profession. Tany was Director of Pharmacy at Plainview's Central Plains Regional Hospital (later Covenant Hospital Plainview) for ten years. She was Director of Pharmacy, Materials Management, and Central Supply at Highland Hospital in Lubbock for ten years. Her last 12 working years were as Chief Pharmacist at Texas Tech University Student Health Pharmacy where she loved taking care of college kids. Following retirement she helped Bob manage their other pharmacies. Tany served her profession as a local and state officer in pharmacy organizations, serving as one of the first women Presidents of the Texas Society of Health System Pharmacists. She served on several national committees and task forces. Tany served on the state committee which wrote the Rules and Regulations for hospital pharmacy which were later adapted by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. She was a pioneer in hospital pharmacy, developing IV Admixture and unit-dose drug distribution in two hospitals. Her retirement years were spent writing and marketing a Pharmacy Technician Training Manual which is used in retail pharmacies all over Texas. She wrote two other pharmacy manuals used in retail pharmacy. She also volunteered for several organizations. Tany is survived by Bob, her husband of 63 years; her daughter, Holly Lynn Chandler and husband Paul of Hale Center; her granddaughter, Erin Reese and husband, Scott; her great-grandchildren, Macie and Beau Reese all of Cotton Center; family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family suggests memorials to be sent to a favorite charity.
