Services for Lyman Abell, 73, of Ralls, TX, were held Monday, February 12, 1996, at the First United Methodist Church in Ralls with Rev. Hank Scott and Ron Colwell officiating. Burial followed in the Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Abell died February 9, 1996, while vacationing in Zapata, TX. He was born November 20, 1922 in Lorenzo, TX to Roy and Nena (Scott) Abell. He served in the United States Navy from 1943 until 1946 with the MTB Squadron Nine, Torpedoman's Mate Third Class. He married Betty Bedingfield March 12, 1960. He was a graduate of Lorenzo High School and was a longtime Crosby County resident. While his sons were young he was active as a Cub and Boy Scout leader and he was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ralls and the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Betty Abell of Ralls, TX, 6 sons, Rick of Watauga, TX,and Ronnie of Irving, TX, Mike of Ralls, TX. Mark of Lewisville, TX, Paul of Oskaloosa, KS and Todd of Abernathy, TX, a brother, Earl C. Abell of Ralls, TX, 12 grandchildren, Jennifer, Meegan, Daniele, Amy, Casey, Keelan, Cory & Teyler, Kristee, Misty, Keith and Monica and 3 great grandchildren.
