It seems that I looked up to Joe the better part of my life. I knew him as a bible teacher, elder, host because they held so many bible studies and devotions in their home, and a hard working man. My mom and dad always talked so highly of him. He was everything that I was raised to respect: a Godly, hard working man with a quick smile and integrity. I rejoice that he ran his race so well and got to go home, but I’ll be praying for the family and their loss.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Oswalt, a quintessential gentleman and fine representative of a great generation of South Plains and Abernathy farmers and citizens. My condolences to all of his family. I know he will be missed and things never quite the same again. Even though I visited with him only once or twice over the last several decades, I always knew he was "out there" and was proud to claim him as family at least a little bit. Steve P., Austin
