Graveside services for Jean Struve, 94, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, November 12, 2015, in the Abernathy Cemetery with Rev. Mike O'Donnell officiating. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy. The family will receive friends at Abell Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm, Wednesday, Nov. 11th at Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Struve died Tuesday, November 10, 2015, in Lubbock, TX. She was born on November 19, 1920 to Cecil and Martha (Spikes) Roberts in Clovis, NM. She married Victor Struve on January 31, 1937 in Plainview, TX. Mrs. Struve was a longtime Abernathy resident where she served as past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She attended and taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church in Abernathy and was very involved in school while raising her children. She also served as past President of the PTA. She was described by her children as "a good Christian lady, a positive person, and the best mom ever". She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor, on May 18, 2001 and a great grandson, Tyler Wilson, August 25, 2001. She is survived by 3 daughters, Karen Bradley and Betty Pettit both of Abernathy, and Martha Barrick of Leander, TX, a son, Victor Struve, Jr. of Borger, TX, 8 grandchilldren, 27 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
