Services for Donna Washington Sims, 82, of Pampa, TX, will be held at 11:00 am Monday, September 7, 2015, at Memory Gardens Cemetery Chapel in Pampa. Rev. Kris Knippa, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Hale Center, TX, will officiate. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Hale Center, TX. Mrs. Sims died Friday, September 4th, 2015, in Hale Center. She was born February 22, 1933 to James and Mittie (Cruse) Washington, in Tecumseh, OK. She married Wayne Sims September 26, 1952 in Pampa, where she had lived most of her life. She was an LVN at Highland General Hospital until the hospital sold. She was an accomplished artist and seamstress and was active with the Good News Childrens Chapel Ministry. She was a member of the Bible Church in Pampa for 30 years, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and loved gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Virginia Tate, Clara Imel, her brothers, James Washington, Jr. and Bill Washington and great granddaughter, Scarlett Wood. She is survived by her husband Wayne, a son, Jerry Sims and wife Mary, daughters, Pattie Skidmore and husband Frank, Teresa Gattis and her significant other, Dennis Burton, 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Susan G. Komen For The Cure in honor of her sisters or to the Alzheimer's Association
