Billie Jean Strawn Spruiell went to meet her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 6, 2009. She was born to Herbert and Irene Winter Strawn in Lamesa, TX on April 18, 1927. Billie Jean met the love of her life, W. G. Spruiell, while attending Lamesa Church of the Nazarene. They dated for 2 years and married on June 1, 1947. Mrs. Spruiell worked for the Abernathy School District for 27 years and was a faithful member of the Abernathy Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by her husband, W. G. Spruiell, a son, Kerby Spruiell and his wife Kathi of Austin, TX and Jana Spruiell of Bethany, OK, 4 grandchildren, Jerod Miller and his wife Lisa of Dallas, TX, Joshon Miller and his wife Taylor of Oklahoma City, OK, Courtney Manire and her husband Alex of Las Vegas, NV and Cassady Spruiell of Austin, TX and a great granddaughter, Kate Miller of Dallas, TX. Rev. Dave Menefee officiated the memorial services at the Abernathy Church of the Nazarene at 11:00 am Monday, March 9, 2009, while Rev. Mike Davis assisted. The family wished to express their appreciation to Dr. Chanda Dihenia, Brandi and Cherisa with NurseCare Hospice of Lubbock, Rev. Dave and Ronda Menefee of Lubbock, their Church family and their many friends in Abernathy. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Hospice organization of choice. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Abell Funeral Home
