Obituary of Lorene Jefferies

Funeral services for Lorene Ethel Cure Stewart Jefferies, 91, of Hale Center, TX, were held at 10:00 am, Monday, November 21, 2005, in First United Methodist Church of Hale Center, with the Rev. Jimmy Cameron officiating. Internment followed in the Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center. Mrs. Jefferies went to meet her Lord Thursday, November 17th, 2005 at her home in Hale Center. She was born October 13, 1914 in Clay County TX, to Maude and Owen Cure. The family moved to Hale Center where she graduated from High School. Lorene and Bert Martin Stewart were married on January 6, 1934 in Hale Center. They lived primarily in the Hale Center and Olton areas until Bert's death, Nov. 18, 1980. She later married R. A. Jefferies and lived in Hale Center until her death. Mr. Jefferies preceded her in death. Mrs. Jefferies was a life long member of the United Methodist Church. She also held long time memberships in the Eastern Star and Pioneer Study Club and was a highly skilled seamstress. She was an avid sports fan and actively involved in her children's school activities and sports. Lorene is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Latrell and Jack Hysinger of Olton, TX, a son and daughter-in-law, Wally and Patsy Stewart of Hale Center, TX, a sister, Hope Loveless of Stephenville, TX, six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be sentto the First United Methodist Church of Hale Center, The Hale Center Public Library, Hale Center Senior Citizens Center or a charity of your choice.
